Inchakkad Balachandran is a noted malayalam Writer, poet, a social worker, active member in green politics, Lyricist and Great Performer of Folklore songs. Born in 1954 October 20, at Sooranad south (Inchakkad) near Sasthamcotta. He had completed his Pre-Degree from Devaswom Board Collage, Sasthamcotta.

He shot into prominence with his style of reciting his own poems in a powerful manner, endearing himself to many progressives. His work has been widely appreciated for its force, energy and folk touch and gave a mass appeal and popularity making poetry enjoyable even to common man. Most of his works are related to nature and green. “Inivarunnoru thalamurakk ivide vasam sadhyamo..?” is an important and famous poem by him. Budhapaurnami, Nayattu Kausalam, Pottan, Hamsageetham etc are some of his famous works published in different media.

He started his career with Economics and Statistics department. Now working as the Taluk Statistical officer at Chengannur. He is closely associated with the Inchakkad Public Library for more than 20 years . He had also served with Thiruvalla Dynamic Action (Janakeeya Ganangal) – Nadan pattukal, Founder member of Aadi Nadanpattu sangam, Worked in IPTA, Yuvakala Sahithi. He is an active founder member of Chembai School of Music, Inchakkad, Kakkakkunnu.

As a Lyrist, His first Lyrist venture was in “Azhakalila manjacharadil poothali” from the movie Aswaroodan directed by Jayaraj was a great hit. He has written lyrics for many movies and albums like Sudharil Sudhan, Kalabhavan mani’s Padan Kothicha Pattukal, Manorama Music’s Kilukkampetti etc

His experiences, especially the Kaithari Songs, Dalith Concept songs, Fishermen community development songs etc have influenced strongly to the public.

Inchakkad Balachandran, who had won several awards including Lipi Award (1981), Dalith Sahithya Academy Award etc
