John Memorial High School, Bharanikavu, Sasthamcotta – ESTD 1924
One among the best schools in Sasthamcotta Educational region is John Memorial High school (J M H S), situated in the Chakkuvalli – Bharanikavu road. The school was founded in 1924 by Sri. K.J Umman (B.A. LT.), in the name of his father Sri. V. K. John. His conviction that education is the investment in Human Resource Development prompted him to establish the school. Even though it was started as a Preparatory School, TTC has been recognized in 1939 and the school was upgraded as High School and Sri. K.J Umman was the first Headmaster of this school. JMHS aim to pursue excellence and set pace in the field of school education. Extra-curricular activities such as sport, games, music, dance etc. are also being supported by the management.

After the administration of the Founder Manager for around four decades Smt. Mariyam Umman, wife of Shri. K J Umman took charge for another four decades. From the year 2002 to 2009 Smt. Elizabeth Umman, daughter of the founder was responsible for administration and development of the school. The school is now managed by Smt. Leelamma Umman. D Vinayachandran (Poet), P Balachandran (Actor / Director), Adv.
