Artist Sasikumar was born on November 13, 1952 in Sasthamcotta, Kollam. He was the fifth son of his parents Sri. Narayanan Achary and Smt. Ponnamma Ammal. His school days were at Sasthamcotta Govt High School, Kuttiyil School and Kilimanoor Vivekodayam School. After his education, he realized that his hands were gifted with talents in drawing and painting. So, he sharpened his drawing and painting skills at Karunagappalli. The tough challenges faced by him at Karunagappalli Studios honed the artist in him and molded his sensibility in 3 years (from 1968 – 1970). For him, art is a spontaneous and joyful celebration of life.

Then he proceeded to Madras (Chennai) where the opportunities were plenty. Till 1980 he was in Madras, involved in the Mural art works of Don Bosco based institutions along with Sri. Balan, a gifted artist of repute. In fact, Artist Balan was his Guru in professional painting and art. Sasikumar had the privilege of travelling all over India for Mural art, Signage and such other Art works. His exposure to and understanding of different cultures during his extensive travel from a very early age, has influenced his works to a great extent. He was an assistant art director for many old Malayalam movies too. After marriage in 1980, he settled in Sasthamcotta as a Contractor. He undertook works like Sign boards, Outdoor publicity, Cine slides, Commercial art, Interior and exterior art for buildings etc.

He was married to Smt. Thankamany. His children are Sandeep Sasikumar (Advertising Designer) and Cinideep Sasikumar (Computer Engineer).
